I have found that trying to lose weight can really be a very challenging process. To me the worst thing about following a diet is that it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to follow through. Most prescribed diets out there is so difficult to follow, as you have to go out and purchase a huge list of items that is included in the diet, and it is normally quite expensive to do so as well.
Normally, I just give up halfway through, as it just takes too much effort to stick to the diet plan. I personally don’t like to stick to any rules, so maybe that is part of the problem. Having to eat what the diet plan tells me to eat, is just too much of outside control for my liking. The other problem with having to follow a diet, is that somehow your mind just switches into panic mode, as you believe that you are going to have to starve to lose weight, and then you just want to stuff yourself just in case you starve!
Admittedly, to lose weight, no matter how you do it, first takes some self-control. Without that, you are not going to make it. It does help however, if you do it the easy way which takes most of the planning and hard work out of the equation. To me, that is by following a Juice Detox Diet.
It is just so easy to go out and buy some fruit and veggies, wash and cut it up, and put it in the blender! No cooking, measuring out portions, and cleaning up afterwards. The super easy, lazy way of doing things. I love it!
This is also one of the healthiest ways of dieting, as you can get all the benefit of natural vitamins and minerals from the fruit and vegetables as they retain all the goodness, not being processed or cooked.
A Way Of Life – The Fundamentals
What you have to realise is that losing weight should not be a short term goal. Fundamentally you have to change your eating habits for it to be effective in the long run. These near-starvation diets might work to lose a couple of kilos, but in the long run it is just impossible to maintain without potentially harming you health. No slimming program that does not give permanent results should be considered.
Going on a healthy Juice Detox Diet.
It will give your weight loss a kick start, and then you can follow up by replacing a meal every day with a juice. You will still have to cut out all the fattening stuff, which is really bad for your health in the first place, but I am sure that you will feel so great after the detox, that you will not be so keen to pig out on all that horrible fatty stuff anyway.
There is no way, I believe, that one can successfully lose weight and keep it off you don’t get some form of physical exercise at least 3 – 4 times per week. For me this has always been the determining factor. Personally, I was very active when I was young, and never had a problem with weight. It was only after I started working, and sitting in an office, that I gained weight. Every time when I wanted to lose some weight, I combined it with some form of exercise to get results. It helps to burn the calories, and build muscle mass, which is essential if you want to keep the weight off in the long run. Even if you only go for a brisk walk for half an hour every second day, or daily, which is better, it will make a difference. A good option is to get a Home Gym set up for the times when the weather is not great, so that you don’t miss your daily workout.
Don’t deprive yourself of all the things you enjoy. You can, once a week, allow yourself a treat. Whatever you passion is, a piece of chocolate, a nice piece of cheesecake, or whatever floats your boat. By giving yourself a break from a diet now and then, it will satisfy your craving. Go out and have fun with your friends, see a show, or reward yourself with something you enjoy, like a glass of wine!
Before Starting the detox program, you should first do the following diet for 2 weeks. This is a guideline for a healthy eating plan that you can also follow once you have completed the Detox Diet.
First cut down, or eliminate completely the following from your diet:
- Refined food like cakes, sweets, cookies and soda drinks.
- Use butter sparingly, and avoid fried foods, sauces and gravy.
Include these in your diet:
- Eat mostly fish and chicken, and red meat not more than 3 times a week.
- Eat mostly raw vegetable. At least 60% of the food in your plate should be raw. The cooking process kill the enzymes in the food, and we need the enzymes to break down the food in our stomach.
- Eat at least 2 pieces of fresh fruit daily.
- Limited quantities of nuts
- Unrefined cereals and whole-wheat bread.
Healthy Diet Guidelines:
Eat any fruit in its natural form. Chew it properly to get all the nutrients and taste out of the fruit.
Have another fruit or glass of fruit or vegetable juice.
Lunch: (Can also serve as dinner)
Raw Salad which can include any of the following: Avocado, Tomato, Celery, Cucumber, Lettuce, Carrots, Onion, Parsley, Peppers etc.
One Carbohydrate: Baked potato, Baked banana, Steamed brown rice, Baked Sweet potato, or 1 slice of wholewheat bread.
Glass of fruit or vegetable juice
Dinner: (Can also serve as lunch)
Small bowl of raw salad
Two boiled, roasted or steamed vegetables.
One portion Protein
Follow this way of eating for 2 weeks, then you are ready for the Detox Diet.
The Juice Detox Diet
Eat only fresh fruit, as much as you like.
Freshly Juiced fruit – 4 glasses (Variety) and 4 glasses of water
Freshly Juiced fruit – 4 glasses (Variety) and 4 glasses water
Freshly Juiced vegetables – 4 glasses
Mix the following: 50% carrot, 20% spinach, 10% celery, 10% cucumber, 10% apple. Drink 4 glasses of water.
Breakfast: Fruit and fruit juice
Lunch: Vegetable salad and vegetable juice
Dinner: 2 Steamed vegetables, fresh vegetable salad and vegetable juice.
Back on the Healthy Diet Plan
By following this diet, you will be getting al the benefit of healthy, fresh vegetables and fruit. You could however also include the following Vitamins to your diet, which help to stabilise blood sugar levels and aid in weight loss:
Chromium: Help fat loss and regulates blood sugar levels.
L-Carnitine: promotes the oxidation of fats.
Hydroxycitrate acid: Inhibits the conversion of excess glucose into fat. It also curbs appetite and has no toxic side effect.
